Why it’s not cool to get hot

In two recent surveys of organisations that installed solar control window film a 200 window building had a payback of 2.9 years and a 1,000 window public sector building in London a payback of 3.6 years. The respective reductions in energy costs were £9,915 and £54,514 and carbon emissions 60 tons and 544 tons.

In both instances the buildings had air conditioning systems which became stretched by the peaks of solar intensity and therefore performed inefficiently.

The overall proposition for any energy conscious organisation is: “Why let the heat into the building only to have to cool it down?”

There are many other benefits from solar control window film including improving the internal environment and increasing productivity by up to 40% according to research. Last summer serious issues of excessive heat led to the Government publishing their ‘Heat-Wave Plan’ explaining how to cope with predicted temperature surges.
