Living in an area highly populated with conservatories there is one problem that many readers must share – excessive heat magnified by the glazing. Having a conservatory more akin to a tropical forest might be useful for growing mangrove but it’s no good if it becomes too steamy for people to enjoy during the day.

It’s not just the discomfort because too much direct sun will quickly fade and damage fabrics, furniture and curtains, and the rays can be bad news for the family as well.
